How do I get an Olympus TuneUp serial number and activation key?
When you purchase the TuneUp software, the serial number can be found in two
places:
1) on a sticker on the box sleeve,
2) on the 'TuneUp Activation Form' (TAF) found inside the box.
If you are activating a 30-day DEMO version of Olympus TuneUp, we will
provide you with both the serial number and the activation key.
To receive your activation key, you can call us at (831)426-7582 or fill in
the TAF and fax it to (831)426-7584, or visit our on-line activations page.

The TAF and the on-line activations page ask for the SCO serial number and
the TuneUp install number. Where are these found?
After installing Olympus TuneUp, relinking the kernel and rebooting the
system, type 'tuneup' at a Superuser prompt. Olympus TuneUp will display the
SCO serial number and the TuneUp install number on the first welcome screen.

If I upgrade my release of OlympusTuneUp, do I need a new serial number and
activation key?
That depends upon the nature of the upgrade. If you are moving from a lower
letter release to a higher letter release (e.g. 6.0.0K to 6.0.0M), then you
do not need a new serial number and activation key. Letter-to-letter
upgrades are free of charge.
If the Olympus TuneUp release number changes (e.g. 5.0.0x to 6.0.0x) you
will need a new serial number and activation key. In this case normal
upgrade pricing applies.

If I upgrade my operating system release do I need a new serial number and
activation key?
You can keep the Olympus TuneUp serial number in any case. If the OS serial
number changes in the course of the upgrade, you'll need a new Olympus
TuneUp activation key.
If I upgrade my hardware do I need a new serial number and activation key? |
No. Keep the same Olympus TuneUp serial number and activation key. You can
re-install Olympus TuneUp, and reactivate it. If you restore a prior root
filesystem backup, and relink the kernel, Olympus TuneUp will be
'automagically' installed.
I've upgraded my hardware or OS. My OS serial number did not change, so I'd
like to use the same Olympus TuneUp serial and activation key. However, I
see that the Olympus install number is different. Can I still keep the same
Olympus TuneUp serial number and activation key?
Yes. In the case of an OS or hardware upgrade, the change in the install
number is not significant enough to require a new activation key.

Currently I'm running the 30-day DEMO version of Olympus TuneUp. If I
purchase the software, do I need to reboot the machine to enter the
permanent license?
No. Choose 'Activate' from the bottom of the /bin/tuneup main window, or
choose 'Activate TuneUp' from the xtuneup 'Options' menu. In the Olympus
TuneUp Activation Key Manager window, delete the DEMO Olympus TuneUp serial
number and activation key, and type in the permanent serial number and key. |
What happens after the 30-day DEMO license expires? Will my kernel
parameters be reset? Can I still activate with a permanent license?
At the 25 day mark, you will get a message on the console once a day telling
you the 30-day TuneUp DEMO license is about to expire. After the DEMO
expires, you will no longer be able to access any of the features of Olympus
TuneUp. Your kernel will remain as is - no rollback of tuning occurs unless
you use custom(ADM) to remove TuneUp. Although you will not be able to use
TuneUp after the DEMO license expires, you can still access the Activation
Key Manager as described above and enter a permananet key.
