- Installing from media images
On SCO OpenServer 5.0.x, you may elect to install the software using media images, rather than diskettes. To do this, take the following steps.
- Uncompress the files, as above.
- Copy them to a directory of their own, e.g. /u/olympus or /usr/olympus.
- Rename the files as follows:
# mv 600P1dd VOL.000.000
# mv 600P2dd VOL.001.000
# mv 600P3dd VOL.002.000
- Tip - use ln(C) rather than mv(C) - it'll save a little space.
- Under /etc/custom, choose 'Media Images' rather than 'Floppy Drive 0'.
- Give the path to the media images when prompted.
- Consult your SCO documentation for specific steps, if necessary.
- After Installing
After installing the software, and relinking the kernel reboot the machine via your normal shutdown procedures. In order to use Olympus TuneUp, you will need to get a DEMO serial number and activation key from Pacific CodeWorks. The serial number and key will be provided free of charge.
Log in as the Superuser, root, and run tuneup:
# /bin/tuneup
Choose the 'Activate' button at the bottom of the screen by pressing the 'a' key and then pressing enter.
Generate an activation key on your own
- or - Call Pacific CodeWorks.
We will ask you for the following information:
- Your Name
- Your Company Name
- Your Phone and Fax Number
- Your SCO Serial Number
- Your TuneUp Install Number
We will then provide you with a serial number and an activation key to be entered in the spaces provided which will activate your copy of TuneUp.
Five days before the end of the 30 day evaluation period, TuneUp will print a message to the screen once a day informing you of the time left. The message encourages you to :
- Purchase a License for Olympus TuneUp
- Remove Olympus TuneUp from your system using /etc/custom
At the end of the 30 day evaluation period, TuneUp will cease to function
You can safely remove the software with custom.
When you remove the software, your kernel is restored to the exact state before Olympus TuneUp was originally installed. If you decide to purchase the product, please fax, email or call Pacific CodeWorks. Or, contact one of our distributors or resellers directly.
